Childhood obesity rates have skyrocketed over the past twenty years. The obesity epidemic has been caused by many factors, primarily excessive technology use and poor eating habits. Adolescent obesity is becoming a significant concern, as it is affecting teens in a variety of ways. Presently society is very inactive and lacks nutritional eating habits. Although significant health risks, lack of physical activity and low self-esteem contribute to the growing problem, technology is promoting this sedentary lifestyle and fast food companies are becoming larger everyday. The primary examples that contribute to obesity are fast food, technology, genetics, and the present society’s influence.
